Introducing XDownloader
A fast, clean way to save public X (Twitter) videos and GIFs in HD — no app, no watermark, and no sign-up. Here's what we built and why.
Saving a great video from X should take seconds, not a detour through sketchy pop-up sites. So we built XDownloader: paste a public post link, and get the original video back in the best quality the post exposes.
Why we made it
X (formerly Twitter) is full of clips worth keeping — tutorials, highlights, breaking news footage, and moments you want to rewatch offline. But most “downloaders” bury the button under ads, add watermarks, or ask you to sign in. We wanted the opposite: one field, one button, and the clean file.
What you get
- No watermark. You get the original MP4 with nothing stamped on top.
- HD quality. We return the best resolution the post makes available, up to 1080p.
- No sign-up. No account, no app install, no personal details required.
- Works everywhere. Any modern browser on desktop, Android, or iOS.
- GIF support. X stores GIFs as MP4 internally — we give you that file directly.
- Multiple qualities. Choose the resolution that works best for your device and connection.
How it works
Paste a link like x.com/user/status/… or twitter.com/user/status/…, and XDownloader resolves the post server-side, pulls the direct video URLs, and hands them back for download. Your links and the videos you download are not stored — we don’t keep logs of what you paste.
The entire frontend runs as a static site. Extraction is handled by a lightweight Cloudflare Worker that processes each request in milliseconds and never touches a database.
Privacy by design
We built XDownloader with privacy as a baseline, not an afterthought:
- No accounts or logins
- No link history stored
- No tracking cookies
- No video files cached on our servers
Responsible use
Only download content you own or have permission to use. Respect each creator’s rights and X’s Terms of Service. Always credit the original creator if you re-share.
XDownloader only works with public posts. It cannot and will not access protected accounts, DMs, or age-restricted content.

We’re just getting started. Planned improvements include:
- Batch downloads for threads with multiple videos
- Browser extension for one-click saving
- Better mobile UX with native share-target support
